Markneukirchen, Germany (January 28, 2008) -- The luthiers at Framus have a very special purpose for the new Framus Mayfield Legacy: "to become a highly treasured iconic guitar in the hands of musicians for generations to come." The archtop follows the standard of workmanship that Framus is known for. Mahogany from top to bottom, the top, back, sides neck and headstock all use the wood to create an impressive visual and a smooth, sweet tone. The neck is glued in, and Framus purports their neck-body joint to be one of the best available.

The Mayfield Legacy features a pair of black Seymour Duncan SP-90 pickups, a configuration decided on after months of research at Framus. The pickups can impart a warm, fat jazz tone or a dirty, screaming blues sound thanks to the combination of traditional sound and modern technology.

The Framus Mayfield Legacy will be available in March 2008, in high gloss and satin finishes. As with all Framus guitars, the frets will be dressed with their PLEK machine, and a left-handed version will be available at no additional cost.

Natural Satin Finish MSRP GBP 1499 (approximately $2975 as of 1/28)
Natural Highpolish MSRP GBP 1829 (approximately $3630 as of 1/28)

I want a Framus Mayfield. They're lighter than a Gibson 335 and the neck plays better and faster than 99 per cent of the necks in the world. I think I'd rather buy one with humbuckers, but they're way too cool.
